We may have a few restrictions and some events may not be able to run but Bewdley Bike Week is back for 2021.
Starting In July with some warm up rides the main week runs from Saturday the 24th July to Friday the 30th July with our favorite rides and events such as…..
So Bewdley Bike Week may have been cancelled due to Coronavirus but as we slowly reopen from lockdown, British Cycling sanctioned the Lets Ride programme again allowing one of the Bewdley Bike Week follow up rides to go ahead with small numbers
Not knowing if anyone would still want to come, Stu decided to see what happened and four intrepid cyclists joined Stu on a 26-mile jaunt from the Wyre Forest to Kinver (and a tea shop was open for cake!) and back via Wolverley.
Mark had just qualified as a British Cycling Ride Leader too and was keen to put some of his skills to use and helped lead and a big shout out to Ozzy, 11 who made us all look bad on the hills as he used his lockdown cycle training to great effect.
We hope to run a monthly Bewdley Bike Week – throughout the winter and the next one will be in early September so don’t forget to check the revamped Lets Ride website for details
Message from Mark Young, formally of Overspoke Bikes……
The 36er was a firm favourite at all the Bewdley Bike Week events.
I’m deeply disappointed to report that our container was broken into this morning, and the 36er bike was stolen. This bike is incredibly distinctive, believed to be the only one in the country.
What’s probably most galling is that it was principally used for publicity and charity events, raising £1000’s for organisations such as the QE Hospital, and it has made a lot of people smile (including an annual appearance at Bewdley Bike Week).
Please, keep your eyes open and report to me if you hear anything about it. Post is public so please share away – there is some thought that it is still in the Kidderminster area. I’ll be happy just to have it back if someone wants to return it anonymously and I’ll overlook the damage to my toolbox.
