Wyre Wanderings

October 16, 2021 @ 9:30 am 4:00 pm

Starting from Bewdley Outdoors in the Wyre we head out to the river, crossing at Arley Bridge and getting in our fist stop at Arley Arbouretum. Then there is a bit of hilly stuff in this section but we are in no rush. Then depending on the weather and the desire we can head onto Kinver. Lunch at Kinver will be followed by a flat ride along the canal and a bit of busy road until we get back to Bewdley Centre and can work our way back up hill to the start.

Young Riders – skills and practice session

August 4, 2021 @ 10:00 am

We are offering primary aged children the opportunity to have 2.5 hours of coaching games and practice in an off road setting.

Just learnt to ride your bike – missed out on Bikeability, not a confiden as you would like??

We are offering children the opportunity to have 2.5 hours of fun, games challenges, practice and skill building off road.

Small numbers – just 12, so more time can be given to each child..

There will be cones, ramps, see saws, up and overs, rumble strips and limbo bars and all manner of silly games.

Our fully trained instructors will give children the confidence to find your balance, and over a 2-hour session give the basics in how to ride well.

THIS SESSION IS FOR CHILDREN WHO CAN RIDE WITHOUT HELP OR STABLISERS

Session time 10:00-12:30

Helmets are compulsory for under 18s, strong shoes are also needed e.g. trainers, not sandals. Bear in mind the riders will be outside for all of the session so please bring suncream etc / warm layers and waterproofs.

All bikes must be roadworthy i.e. have 2 working brakes. If you have any concerns about the condition of your bike please consult Bewdley Outdoors 01299 266601

If you have any questions please get in touch. stu @blackdogadventures.co.uk

RAIL & RIDE WITH THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY

July 30, 2021 @ 11:00 am 5:30 pm

The Severn Valley Railway have, once again, kindly agreed to support Bewdley Bike Week by offering a discount of 50% on their normal fares for up to six cyclists each day during Bewdley Bike Week on the 11.15am ‘Explorer’ train from Bewdley.

The plan would be for cyclists to put their bikes on the ‘Explorer’ train from Bewdley (11.15am), and travel to Hampton Loade Station, arriving at 12.02pm.  They would then cycle the four miles back to Arley Station along the lovely NCN Cycle Route Trail 45.  This is a steady ride with only short hills and is suitable for adults, and for children of 6 years or more who can already ride confidently.

Once at Arley cyclists (and bikes) can re-join the train at 2.50pm and travel to Bridgnorth, arrival 3.29pm.  They would then have a 50-minute break before the return train leaves at 4.20pm, arriving back at Bewdley at 5.18pm.

Alternatively, should they need longer to do the ride, they can re-join the train back to Bewdley at Arley at 5.04pm, arriving at Bewdley at 5.18pm.

All this would be in the same coach, using the same seats or compartment, to ensure Covid security and safe social distancing.

Numbers are strictly limited (maximum of 6 bikes per day) so early booking is essential and payment must be made in advance.  No tickets will be available on the day.

To book please contact Malcolm Garner (Bewdley Bike Week) on 07811 333373.

You will need to state which day you prefer, how many in your party (max 6 people), and if you want a table for two or a compartment.  You will also need to provide contact details, names of all riders and ages of children.

Provided space is available, Malcolm will then provide a SVR discount code for riders to obtain their own reduced fare tickets and reservations.  He will meet participants at Bewdley Station at 11.00 on the travel date to assist with bike loading etc.
